Friends of the Rideau
Jones Falls

photo by: Ken W. Watson, 1996

The lower staircase of three locks greets boaters approching Jones Falls from Whitefish Lake. One of the most beautiful lockstations on the Rideau, Jones Falls consists of this flight of three locks, a turning basin above the flight and then an upper lock, a total lift in all four locks of 58.4 feet (17.8 m). The boat in the foreground is the 1941 Andres hull "Rhiannon".
